During two weekends, contractors will install two new crossover tracks between Walnut Creek and Pleasant Hill stations. This work will require complete closure of BART tracks between these two stations on March 26 - 28 and May 28 - 30 (Memorial Day weekend). Due to track closure, BART will provide a free bus bridge service between Walnut Creek and Pleasant Hill during both weekends.
DATES: March 26 - 28 9PM Friday night to 1:30AM Monday morning

May 28 - 30 (Memorial Day weekend) 9PM Friday night to 1:30AM Tuesday morning
DETAILS:
- Every train will be met by a bus. Allow up to 20 additional minutes for bus detour.
- Follow signs to Bus Bridge stop directly outside BART station, look for County Connection buses (tan and white or white) with BART Bus Bridge signage.
- Keep BART ticket to display at all times, as you will need it to enter and exit stations and board bus.
- Normal BART service will resume at 4AM on the final morning of the installation.
Please adjust your weekend travel plans accordingly to take delays into account.

Weekend Night Work
Prior to track installation, contractors will perform night work on 8-10 weekends, beginning Friday February 19, 2010. Work will take place Friday night at approximately 9PM through Monday morning at approximately 4AM. Work may create additional noise; homes within close proximity to any loud night work activities will be contacted prior to work.

Tunnel Closure

Tunnel Closure to begin Mid February 2010
As part of the Central Contra Costa County Crossover Project, a portion of the Contra Costa Canal Trail will be temporarily closed. This portion of the Canal Trail runs under BART tracks, from North Main Street (at Autocenter Road) to Jones Road.
The tunnel will be closed from approximately mid February 2010 through late March 2010. Please use alternate pedestrian walkways at Parkside Drive or at the northern side of Treat Blvd.

Tunnel Work
The portion of the Contra Costa Canal Trail that runs under BART tracks, from North Main Street to Jones Road, will be in construction for one to two months. The tunnel will be narrowed, but still accessible to bikes and pedestrians. Work will begin after November 16, 2009.
Tree Removal and Restoration
Contractors have begun removal of trees along Jones Road, adjacent to train tracks. After completion of the project, contractors will restore native trees at a ratio of 3:1 and restore non-native trees at a ratio of 1:1.
Parking
The project will occupy some parking spaces along Jones Road during construction work. Watch for signs and notifications.
Work Schedule
Most work will take place Monday through Friday between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM, however some night and weekend work will be necessary. During night work, lighting will be directed at the work site and away from residences. Minimal noise can be expected during the work.
