BART LMA Dismantling Project Begins HVAC/Elevator Reconfiguration

 

This summer BART will begin the second major activity for the Lake Merritt Administration Building (LMA) Dismantling Project: HVAC/Elevator Reconfiguration. This activity will relocate the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems from the roof of LMA to the plaza, and reconfigure the existing freight elevator to carry employees to the lower levels of the building.

Duration            Approximately six (6) months
Hours                Most work will be done between 6:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on weekdays

The Lake Merritt Administration building is located at 800 Madison Street in Oakland, CA. The LMA building is being dismantled for seismic safety reasons.

Effective Monday, June 30, 2008, the BART LMA Dismantling Project will begin restricting access to areas of the plaza above the Lake Merritt BART Station needed for construction work. Access from the street level to the Lake Merritt Station below continues as it is without disruption.

Be aware that equipment and construction personnel will be moving into and through the area. Please watch for signs with safety information and other notices.
