BART Awards Contract for Oakland Shops Radio Tower Project
On April 26, 2007 BART Awarded a contract to TPI Acquisitions Inc. to provide a new radio tower and supporting equipment at the BART Oakland Shops (OKS) complex. The OKS Radio Site will replace BART’s existing radio facility at the Lake Merritt Administration (LMA) Building, which BART plans to dismantle for seismic safety reasons.
Construction of the radio tower will require activities such as earth moving and removal, concrete work, antenna tower structure assembly, and trenching.Normal construction activities may generally result in increased noise and dust levels in the project vicinity. However, construction crews will attempt to keep disruption to a minimum.
