Gung Hay Fat Choy from BART

Celebrate the Year of the Rooster, take BART to the Chinese New Year Parade in San Francisco, Feb. 19 at 5:30 p.m. Exit at the Montgomery or Powell Street Stations. To plan your trip, use bart.gov's online Trip Planner.

Named one of the world's top ten parades, San Francisco's Chinese New Year Parade is the largest event of its kind outside of Asia. A San Francisco tradition since just after the Gold Rush, the parade continues to delight and entertain the many hundreds of thousands of people who descend on downtown San Francisco to take part in the spectacle. Avoid the hassle of parking and traffic, ride BART!

Nowhere in the world will you see a lunar new year parade with more gorgeous floats, elaborate costumes, ferocious lions and exploding firecrackers. A crowd favorite is the spectacular 201 foot Golden Dragon ("Gum Lung"). It takes a team of over 100 men and women from the martial arts group, White Crane, to carry the dragon through the streets of San Francisco. Also, be sure to check out the "BARTMobile" appearing in this year's parade.
