Expanded service for Bay to Breakers

BART will provide special service for the world famous ?Bay to Breakers? race in San Francisco on Sunday, May 15 by starting some train service two hours earlier than the regular 8 a.m. Sunday starting time.

BART will provide train service from all East Bay stations, Millbrae and San Francisco stations to the Embarcadero Station beginning at about 6 a.m. Stations will open about forty-five minutes before the departure of the first trains to allow plenty of time for passengers to buy tickets.

The first train departs Pittsburg/Bay Point at 5:57 a.m.; Dublin/Pleasanton at 5:55 a.m.; Fremont at 5:57 a.m.; Richmond at 6:11 a.m.; Millbrae at 5:59 a.m. and Daly City at 5:50 a.m.  Trains will arrive every 15-20 minutes until 8 a.m., when regular Sunday service begins. Trains will stop at all stations along the way.

REGULAR SERVICE FOR SAN FRANCISCO TO EAST BAY
Train service from San Francisco to Pittsburg/Bay Point and Dublin/Pleasanton will begin at 8 a.m., when regular Sunday service begins.

The ?Bay to Breakers? race attracts thousands of runners and fans so some BART trains may disembark their passengers at the Montgomery Street Station to prevent overcrowding at the Embarcadero Station.  Both the Embarcadero and Montgomery Street stations are just a short distance from Howard and Spear streets, the starting point of the race.

TIPS FOR RUNNERS
BART officials suggest runners buy two one-way tickets, one on the way to the race and the other at the conclusion of the race, rather than a single round-trip ticket. Fare gates will not accept wet tickets.

In addition to the system-wide automated ticket machines, BART personnel will be selling tickets at the Dublin/Pleasanton BART station.

For your safety, footwear must be worn; no bare feet are permitted on trains or in stations. No eating, drinking or smoking is permitted on trains or in the stations. Bicycles will only be permitted on regularly scheduled trains in service after 8 a.m.
