BART will provide longer trains to accommodate the crowds attending the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender Pride Parade and Celebration in San Francisco this Sunday, June 25th. In addition to the longer trains, BART will provide event trains before and after the celebration. Trains will operate on a regular Sunday schedule. The parade begins Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at Market and Davis Streets. The celebration is scheduled to end at 7 p.m.
A NEW LOOK FOR THE "BARTMOBILE"
The parade will once again feature the BARTMobile, a self-powered miniature version of a BART car, but this year it will be decked-out in pure Pride fashion, featuring one of the new event-specific "festive hats" that have been specially made for the BARTMobile. The BARTMobile, which was paid for by Commuter Check Services Corporation, made its Pride parade debut in 2004 and was a huge hit with the crowds.
EXTRA SERVICE FOR "BATTLE OF THE BAY" SERIES
BART will provide longer trains during the "Battle of the Bay" series as the Giants play the A's at AT&T Park Friday night and Saturday & Sunday afternoons. Sunday afternoon BART will also have additional trains for baseball fans.
TICKET TABLES WILL EASE THE DEMAND AT MACHINES
BART personnel will be selling BART tickets and flash passes at tables at selected stations to help ease the demand at tickets machines. A ticket table will be open at Civic Center Station Sunday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. to assist riders returning from the Pride Celebration. Ticket tables will also be open at Dublin/Pleasanton and Fremont stations from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday to assist both Pride Parade fans and baseball fans.
BART officials suggest riders buy round trip tickets to avoid lines before the trip home.
