BART expands service for July 4 holiday weekend

Look for longer trains on BART this holiday weekend to accommodate baseball and fireworks fans and airport travelers.

On Friday, July 4, BART will operate on a Sunday schedule and will add cars on the Dublin/Pleasanton to Daly City line and the Pittsburg/Bay Point to SFO line most of the day. Independence Day festivities include a Giants-Dodgers game at AT&T Park and a concert and fireworks show at San Francisco's Aquatic Park and between Piers 39 and 45.

“Declare your independence from holiday congestion this fourth of July,” BART Board President Gail Murray said. “BART will have plenty of available spaces in our parking lots on Friday.  If you’re flying out of town this long weekend, taking BART is an affordable alternative to driving and parking at the airports. Long-term/airport parking cost just $5 per day at most east bay lots, and $6 per day on the peninsula.”

BART reminds riders that the only way to reserve a long-term spot is to visit www.bart.gov/parking.  You cannot buy a long-term permit at the station itself.  Passengers can learn how to purchase a long-term/airport parking permit by watching BARTtv News.  Check out the "BART Basics" section.

BART will operate on a regular weekday schedule on Thursday, July 3; a regular Saturday schedule on July 5 and a regular Sunday service on July 6; however, BART will run longer trains to accommodate Giants fans heading to AT&T Park, as well as riders traveling to and from the SFO and Oakland Aiports.

In San Francisco, BART riders can connect to MUNI lines from BART’s downtown San Francisco stations to get to the pre-fireworks events happening from 2 p.m. until 9 p.m. in and around Aquatic Park, Fisherman’s Wharf and between Piers 39 & 45.  For more event information and how to get there visit www.fishermanswharf.org.
