Sportsapalooza! Longer trains for Niners-Raiders, Giants-Dodgers

BART will run longer trains on Friday, Aug. 8, to accommodate the thousands of sports fans attending the San Francisco 49ers versus the Oakland Raiders 7 p.m. match-up at McAfee Coliseum stadium and the 7:15 p.m. Giants versus the LA Dodgers game at AT&T Park. BART also will add trains at the end of the football game.

"Friday night traffic is dismal enough in the Bay Area even without major sports events," said BART Board President Gail Murray. “No need to sit in gridlock burning expensive gas only to pay the high cost of parking once you finally arrive."

In addition, BART personnel will sell flash passes and round-trip BART tickets from tables at two stations to help ease demand at ticket machines. A table will be open at the Dublin/Pleasanton and Fremont Stations on Friday, Aug. 8 from 3:00 p.m. to 7 p.m. BART staff will sell flash passes to the Coliseum/Oakland Airport Station and regular round-trip blue BART tickets to downtown San Francisco stations for fans headed to AT&T Park.

BART officials suggest riders buy round-trip tickets to avoid lines before the ride home.
