BART seeks public comments on proposed fares for new West Dublin/Pleasanton station

BART invites the public to submit comments on proposed fares for its first new station to open since 2003 – the system’s 44th station, called West Dublin/Pleasanton, which is set to open in Spring 2011. The new station will be located between the existing Dublin/Pleasanton Station and the Castro Valley Station.

Proposed fares for the new station include $5.40 for a one-way ticket to downtown San Francisco, $3.85 one-way to 12st St. Oakland/City Center, or $10.40 one-way trip to San Francisco International Airport. BART used the same distance-based formula to calculate West Dublin/Pleasanton fares that it uses to determine fares at other stations.  You can download a BART staff presentation on proposed fares (.pdf)  that was made at the public hearing held by the BART Board of Directors at its meeting on Thursday, Oct. 14. The BART Board will be asked to vote to finalize the new fares at a future meeting.

If you would like to comment on the proposed fares, you can send an e-mail to [email protected].  You have until Wednesday, November 17, to submit comments.
