Update on out-of-service escalator at 24th St. Mission Station

We apologize for the inconvenience caused by the out-of-service escalator at 24th St. Mission Station. We have discovered an issue with the main drive gear. Once we are able to dismantle the escalator for a full diagnosis we will be better able to predict the time needed to complete the repair.

Our best case is that the repair will be minor and  the escalator will be fixed by July. If there is more work to be done, we may not be able to complete the repair until September. We will issue updates to this notice as more information becomes available.

We recognize the great inconvenience this will cause you. We hope that once this work is complete, it will result in many more years of trouble-free operation.

People who rely on the escalator will have to use the elevator to get to their destination. To check the operational status of the elevator before arriving at the station, please call 510-834-LIFT or
888-2-ELEVAT.

If you need language assistance services, please call BART’s Transit Information Center at (510) 465-2278.
