Temporary changes to parking at San Leandro Station August 2013 - August 2014

Temporary changes to parking at San Leandro Station August 2013 - August 2014

As part of our systemwide Earthquake Safety Program, construction crews are continuing to strengthen the elevated structures outside the San Leandro Station to better withstand future earthquakes.

Beginning in early August 2013 work areas will be fenced in and you may see large equipment accessing the site such as dump trucks, backhoes and lifts. In the first phase of this project, there will be a temporary closure of some fee, permit and disabled parking spaces, with the permit and disabled parking spaces relocated nearby. We will also need to relocate electronic bicycle lockers. Please download the Passenger Bulletin (.pdf) for a diagram of parking impacts and bicycle electronic locker relocation.

The work will be done between the hours of 7 am and 7 pm, Monday through Saturday, with some night work and emergency work as necessary. During construction, pedestrian access in and around the station will change periodically. Please proceed around construction areas with caution and watch for signs with safety information and other notices. You can also expect temporary construction-related noise, dust, and traffic impacts. We will monitor noise and dust and work to minimize any inconveniences.

We realize that this will cause you inconvenience and appreciate your patience during this important maintenance work.

A related project to strengthen structures inside the San Leandro Station will occur in the future. As always, safety is BART’s top priority.
