Thanksgiving and Black Friday BART schedule

Holiday Schedule

BART will run a Sunday schedule on Thursday, November 27, 2014, Thanksgiving Day. Parking will be free at all stations.

BART to OAK is now open! Take the new service from Coliseum Station to Oakland International Airport for your holiday travel.

Take BART to do your holiday shopping
On Friday, November 28, the trains will be back on the regular weekday schedule (with longer trains all day) and all parking rules will be enforced.  BART will operate longer trains from 6 am to close of service, almost doubling the number of seats available for bargain hunters compared to a typical weekday schedule.

Stay Safe
In an effort to better protect our passengers during the hectic holiday season, on Friday, November 28, 2014 from 4 pm to 7 pm BART Police and San Leandro Police Department (SLPD) will provide safety escorts for riders parked at BART’s Bay Fair Station. Officers will also give out materials with safety travel tips to help empower passengers to better protect themselves while travelling the BART system and within their community.

“This service is part of both departments’ Community Policing outreach efforts,” BART Police Chief Kenton Rainey said. “"The escorts provide an additional layer of service for our customers on ‘Black Friday’--the biggest shopping day of the year. This year, we’ve added our new, free BART Watch app that allows customers to quickly, easily and discreetly report crimes.”

The BART Watch app can be downloaded from the App Store or Google Play.

Safety escorts will be available to accompany BART customers to their cars parked within a three block radius of the Bay Fair Station. There will also be two designated patrol vehicles to provide rides to those who do not want to walk in the dark.

This event highlights the collaborative work between the community, San Leandro Police Department and BART Police and their shared goal of keeping our communities safe. San Leandro and BART PD would like to remind people that the holidays can be a distracting time and it’s important to always remain alert and aware of your belongings and surroundings.

Safety escorts will also be offered in December on Friday, December 12 at MacArthur, West Oakland and Fruitvale stations in cooperation with Oakland Police Department. On Friday, December 19 at MacArthur and West Dublin stations, BART Police will provide escorts.
