Parking fees to increase at 3 stations February 1, 2016

There will be a $0.50 daily parking fee increase at three stations starting on Monday, February 1, 2016. The increased fees are as follows:

Monday, February 1, 2016:
Hayward ($2.00), Richmond ($2.50), and West Oakland ($8.00)

Background information on Parking Fees

Parking lot usage is evaluated every 6 months. If the lot at a station is full, then the daily parking fee may increase by 50¢. If the lot is less than 95% full, then the fee may decrease by 50¢. BART's parking fee policy has a $3 parking daily fee maximum, except at West Oakland. Single Day, Monthly and Airport/Long-Term reserved parking permit prices are also covered by this policy and will also increase. Any change in parking fees will remain in effect for at least 6 months. All revenue raised from these new fees will go to programs for improved station access, rehabilitation, and modernization. If you use your Clipper® card to pay for your parking, your autoload amount may be adjusted. Please see www.BART.gov/parking for details.

HOW TO PAY FOR PARKING

Clipper® Card

The Clipper Card is the easiest way to pay for this new parking fee. You must sign up in advance at www.BART.gov/parking to link your Clipper card to BART’s parking payment program. If you don’t have a Clipper Card, please visit www.ClipperCard.com. Once you have a Clipper Card and submit an application to link it to BART’s parking program (called EZ Rider), you will receive your hang tag for your car by mail. It takes a few days to process your application, so please sign up now. Then you simply tag the card inside the paid area at a Parking Validation Machine. There is no need to remember your stall number or to pay with cash on a daily basis.

Cash

When you park, remember your parking stall number. Once inside the paid area, go to an Add Fare Machine, enter your stall number and your money. Save the receipt that comes out at the bottom of the Add Fare Machine. There is no need to display anything in your vehicle.

Blue Ticket

You may also pay for parking with your Blue Ticket, but that Blue Ticket must be the same one used to enter the fare gates. Once inside the fare gates, enter the stall number from your parking space into an Add Fare Machine and insert the Blue BART Ticket. Save your receipt.

All money generated from these new parking fees will be placed into a special account to be used only for programs to improve station access, including shuttle and feeder service to stations, and much needed station rehabilitation and modernization.
