UPDATE: Union City elevator out of service starting 3/5

UPDATE: New start date is March 5

As part of our ongoing efforts to improve Union City Station, we will need to shut down the only elevator serving southbound trains for thirty (30) days from Saturday, March 5 to approximately Tuesday, April 5.

In order to have elevator access to or from southbound trains, you will need to use another station.

If you are traveling southbound on a BART train and wish to exit at Union City Station, we suggest one of two options:

  1. Get off the train at South Hayward Station and take AC Transit bus line 99 to Union City Station. Buses come every 20-30 minutes and the travel time is about 20 minutes.
  2. Take the BART train past Union City Station to Fremont Station, and then cross the platform and take the Richmond or SF BART train back to Union City Station, where the elevator serving northbound trains is scheduled to be in service. Trains come every 7.5 to 20 minutes and travel time is 5 minutes.

If you are traveling from Union City Station to Fremont Station, we suggest one of two options:

  1. At Union City Station, take AC Transit bus line 99, 200, or 801 (an all-nighter in service 1am to 5am)
  2. Take a Richmond or SF BART train in the opposite direction to South Hayward Station, where you can cross over the platform to the southbound platform (2 elevators rides required) and take a Fremont bound train to Fremont Station.

To check if an elevator is in service before arriving at a station, please call 510-834-LIFT (510-834-5438) or 888-2-ELEVAT (888-235-3828), or sign up for elevator status alerts at www.BART.gov/stations/elevators

We apologize for the great inconvenience this will cause you and appreciate your patience while we improve access at Union City Station.
