BART partners to host 12th Annual Lunar New Year Celebration

Schoolchildren and seniors alike were captivated by the Lion Dancers at the 2016 Lunar New Year celebration on February 9, 2016 at the Lincoln Square Recreation Center.

On January 26, 2017, Alameda County, San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) and the Asian Community Collaborative will host the 12th Annual Lunar New Year celebration at the Lincoln Square Recreation Center.  Last year, this free event drew over 600 students from Alameda and Contra Costa County school districts, employees from the County of Alameda and BART, and members of the community. This year, our diverse program highlights the spirit of unity and unique traditions among the different Asian Asian-American Pacific Islander communities that coexist in the Bay Area.

WHAT:  2017 Lunar New Year Celebration

WHEN: Thursday, January 26, 2017; 10:30am – 12:00pm

WHERE:  Lincoln Square Recreation Center, 250-10th Street, Oakland, CA. Closest BART Station is Lake Merritt

WHO: Entertainment will include lion dancing, a Kung Fu exhibition, Korean singing, Mongolian dancers, and more.

2017 is the “Year of the Rooster,” and according to Chinese Horoscope: People born in a year of the Rooster are very observant. Hardworking, resourceful, courageous, and talented, Roosters are very confident in themselves.
