Work begins on ceiling and lighting modernization at Powell late February

Beginning later this month, crews will begin prep work prior to the start of a large project to install a new ceiling and additional lighting at the Powell Street BART station.

You will see work at the eastern end of the station in the hallways near the Stockton/Ellis and 4th Street entrances to the station. Some work will also be completed in areas that are not accessible to the public. Most of the work will take place in the evening hours beginning at 9pm.

Workers will build temporary enclosures (work offices/storage areas) and will install transformers, distribution panels, conduit, and supports for a temporary power supply. The work should be completed by the end of March. Other bulletins will be issued for future phases of the project.

When working in a specific location, crews will place safety barricades to mark the work zone. A pedestrian path will always be open adjacent to the work area. Please look out for signs and barricades.

We apologize in advance for the inconvenience. Thank you for your patience as we improve Powell Street Station.
