Escalator Repair Montgomery Station 3/6 to 7/30/2017

Starting Monday, March 6 BART will begin work to replace the controller mechanism for the out-of-service escalator unit located near Market & Sutter streets.  This escalator carries customers from the street to the concourse level inside the Montgomery BART Station.

This work will take approximately 20 weeks – from March to July 2017.

BART will perform the same work on twelve escalator units at the following stations over the course of two years: Embarcadero, Montgomery, 16th and 24th Mission stations.  This work is being done involves major electrical system overhaul of existing escalators that continue to malfunction.  This repair work is expected to be complete by 2018 and will result in more reliable escalators and access.
