Downtown Berkeley station main entrance/Center Street Closes 8/14/17

The main entrance (Center Street) is scheduled to close 8/14/2017 as part of our Plaza Improvement Project. At the same time, we will close the entrance at the corner of Addison St. West and Shattuck Avenue. The main street entrance and Addison St./Shattuck entrance will reopen in the Fall 2018.

The access to the platform, station agent booth, and fare machines in the center of the station will continue to operate as usual..

The street-level access to the elevator (located near Shattuck & Center St.) will still be available to transport you into the station. See elevator location on the map linked below.

The escalators between the concourse and the platform will be functional.

We will monitor the usage of the street/concourse elevator to ensure that it provides adequate access for all patrons. Elevator access is the key element of an accessible pathway. If for some reason that the elevator between the street and the concourse is unavailable, we can make arrangements to have an elevator mitigation trip on an accessible vehicle take you to an adjacent station. This trip is arranged through the station agent.

To check if an elevator is in service before arriving at a station, please call 510-834-LIFT (510-834-5438) or 888-2-ELEVAT (888-235-3828), or sign up for elevator status alerts at www.bart.gov/elevators. If you arrive at any station and find that the elevator(s) are out of service, you may contact a Station Agent to arrange for a lift van to take you to a nearby station with a working elevator.
