Lafayette Station gets guaranteed parking for carpoolers
BART will allocate permit parking spaces at Lafayette station specifically for carpoolers using Scoop, an app that connects drivers and fills seats in vehicles already driving to BART stations.
“There are a lot of areas surrounding the Lafayette BART station that don’t have access to transit and the lots fill up early at this station, so we think this program will really improve access to the station.” said Nikki Foletta, Principal Planner at BART.
The Scoop to BART program continues its goal to relieve impacted BART parking and improve work commutes. It offers guaranteed parking before 10am, and carpoolers using Scoop will no longer need to rush to find parking before 7am, when first-come, first-served parking spaces regularly fill up at Lafayette Station.
“We’re proud to partner with BART to help improve what, for many of us, is one of the worst parts of our day: our commutes,” says David Clavens, Head of Marketing at Scoop. “Together, we hope to help make commutes across the Bay Area more enjoyable and efficient with the expansion of the Scoop to BART program, ultimately helping commuters be happier and less stressed in their day-to-day lives.”
To get guaranteed parking at Lafayette Station, download the free Scoop app for iOS or Android at takescoop.com. Type in the BART station name, and schedule a ride either before 9pm the night before the morning commute or by 3:30pm for that evening’s commute. Shortly after the deadline, Scoop notifies commuters who have matched with one of their 100,000+ users, and provides a guaranteed ride home for passengers unable to be matched into a carpool for their return trip. Scoop coordinates with BART to help verify carpoolers and works with BART police to ensure smooth operations every morning.
The Scoop to BART program is a partnership between BART, Scoop Technologies, and the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC) 511 Carpool Program.
The Scoop to BART program is now available at Colma, Concord, Daly City, Dublin/Pleasanton, Millbrae, Orinda, Pleasant Hill, Rockridge, San Bruno, South San Francisco, Union City, Warm Springs stations.
