Fruitvale Station earthquake safety work to create temporary detours

As part of the BART systemwide Earthquake Safety Program, construction activity at Fruitvale Station will create additional temporary detours and bus moves in the AC Transit Bus Bay, located on the west side of the Station main entrance.  You will see concrete trucks, concrete pump/hose, scissor lifts, drill rigs, along with flaggers on site to assist with traffic control. This activity is scheduled to take place one additional day this week on Friday, March 29 from approximately 10 AM to 2 PM (revised from 5 AM to 3 PM). Please watch for directional signs and flaggers to assist you with access and navigation of the Fruitvale Station and AC Transit bus stops during this construction activity.  Allow more time in your travel plans.  We will monitor noise and dust, working to minimize any inconveniences; and, local regulations will be enforced.

Earthquake Safety construction consists of seismic retrofit work performed on each footing and pier cap (a beam connecting two columns) that serves to support the BART trackway under the alignment.  Work continues inside and outside the Fruitvale Station and is in its final phases of construction at this location, preparing to complete seismic retrofit construction this Spring.

We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience and cooperation during construction.  As always, safety is BART’s top priority.  Our aim is to complete seismic retrofit work as quickly as possible, while maintaining BART service.  Fruitvale Station will REMAIN OPEN for BART riders during construction.  Please watch for additional notices regarding upcoming construction.
