Race for Space: BART hosts Twitter Town Hall on crowding June 20

It’s crowded out there.  We know it can feel like a sardine can sometimes.

BART’s got a plan to help – but we need your help, too. Join our Race for Space Twitter Town Hall, scheduled for Thursday, June 20 from noon – 1 pm.Twitter town hall graphic June 20, 2019

We’ll be discussing our Transbay Corridor Core Capacity Project that will let us increase passenger capacity through the Transbay Tube by 45%. The plan includes new rail cars, a new train control system to run trains closer together, a new rail car storage yard and more traction power substations to handle the increased load.

But key funding for the project is held up in the Federal Transit Administration’s Capital Investment Grants Program.  We need the Bay Area to come together and voice support for this essential project to bring crowding relief and keep pace with the Bay Area’s growth.

During the Town Hall we’ll have experts from BART’s operations and planning teams on hand to answer your questions about this project, what it means to you, why it’s needed, and where it stands on funding.  We’ll start the hour-long conversation at noon on Twitter. Follow us at @SFBART and join the conversation. Standing still is not an option.
