When departing a Richmond bound train the elevator will be towards the rear of the train near the far end of the platform. When departing a Fremont or San Francisco - Daly City bound train the elevator will be towards the front of the train near the far end of the platform.
When you arrive at the street level you will be just outside the paid area.
