Elevator Outage Options
IF STREET LEVEL ELEVATOR IS OUT OF SERVICE AND RIDER IS:
ARRIVING FROM THE STREET (rider cannot enter station)
Rider should take the elevator in Westfield Shopping Center (open between 10 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.) or the Muni elevator at Market and 5th Street/Hallidie Plaza (open between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.).
Time Added to Trip for Primary Mitigation Option: Minimal
If the alternate elevator is out of service: If the other elevators are unavailable, rider could take Muni to another station or request a Mitigation Trip. The next station is Montgomery St. and it is 0.3 miles walking/rolling.
ARRIVING FROM THE PLATFORM (rider cannot exit station)
Rider should take the elevator in Westfield Shopping Center (open between 10 a.m. and 8:30 p.m.) or the Muni elevator at Market and 5th Street/Hallidie Plaza (open between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m.).

ARRIVING FROM THE STREET (rider cannot access trains)
Rider should take Muni to another BART station. The closest station is Montgomery St.
Alternative Option: Rider can walk to Montgomery St., 0.3 miles walking/rolling.
If the alternate elevator is out of service: If either of the elevators at Montgomery St. are also out of service, rider could take Muni to another station or request a Mitigation Trip.
ARRIVING FROM THE PLATFORM (rider cannot exit platform)
Rider should continue on BART to another station and take Muni to destination. The closest station is Montgomery St.
Alternative Option: Rider can walk from Montgomery St., 0.3 miles walking/rolling.
If the alternate elevator is out of service: If either of the elevators at Montgomery St. are also out of service, rider could take Muni from another station or request a Mitigation Trip.
ENTERING POWELL ST STATION

There are three levels below the street at Powell Street Station. The first level is the concourse. The second level is the platform for boarding the Muni trains. The third level is the train platforms for boarding BART trains.
Two separate elevators are needed to get from the street to the BART train platform.
The street elevator is located on the corner of Market Street and Ellis Street. Press “C” for concourse level.
On the concourse level, travel approximately 60 feet straight to the platform elevator outside the paid area.
The Platform elevator will take you down two levels: The second level is to the Muni platform and the third level is to the BART platform. The Platform elevator buttons are labeled "C" for Concourse, "M" for Muni and "BA" for BART Platform.
At the BART train platform level, you will be at the far end of the platform. San Francisco, San Francisco (SFO), Millbrae bound trains will be to your right and Richmond, Pittsburg/Bay Point, Dublin/Pleasanton, Berryessa/North San José bound trains will be to your left.
EXITING POWELL ST STATION
The train platforms at Powell Street Station are located three levels below the street.
Two separate elevators are needed to get from the train platform to the street.
Exiting from East Bay bound trains the elevator will be towards the front of the trains at the far end of the train platform. Press “C” for concourse level and you will go up two levels to the concourse level passing the Muni level.
Exiting from San Francisco Airport (SFO), Millbrae bound trains the elevator will be towards the rear of the trains at the far end of the train platform. Press “C” for concourse level and you will go up two levels to the concourse level passing the Muni level.
On the concourse level, travel approximately 60 straight to the street elevator outside the paid area. Press “S” for street elevator.
When exiting the elevator, you will be on the corner of Market Street and Ellis Street.
