BART holds meeting with community leaders and elected officials

A delegation of BART Board members will hold a meeting tomorrow, Sunday, January 11, 2009 from 2 p.m. until 4  p.m. with community leaders and elected officials following the officer-involved shooting on New Years Day at the Fruitvale BART Station.

During Thursday’s BART Board of Directors meeting, in which all nine board members listened to community members express their concerns about the tragic shooting, Board Member Carole Ward Allen promised she’d hold a community meeting to continue the dialogue and to hear from community leaders about how to move forward.  “During our meeting last Thursday, I pledged to follow up with a concerted effort to engage in dialogue with the citizens of Oakland,” she said. “This meeting we have planned will be another step in the healing process.”
