Passenger advisory regarding protests planned for Fruitvale Station

Dear Passenger:

In the event protests at the Fruitvale BART Station on Thursday, March 5, 2009, disrupt your commute, please be aware of the information below.  We understand the protests will begin around 4 p.m. and could potentially result in the closure of the station.

If the Fruitvale Station is closed, one way to get to and from the Fruitvale Station is by using the Coliseum/Oakland Airport BART Station instead.  AC Transit and BART are working together to set up a bus bridge between the Coliseum/Oakland Airport and Fruitvale stations.  Please look for either AC Transit or BART employees to guide you to these free buses.

The other way to get to and from Fruitvale is by using the regularly scheduled service AC Transit provides between Fruitvale and Lake Merritt stations. The adult cash fare is $1.75.

We will do everything we can to get you to your destination as quickly as possible.  We also encourage you to sign up for email or text message service alerts by visiting www.bart.gov/alerts.

You can also find the latest information on service issues in the service advisory section of our website.
