Daily parking fee of $1 to start April 27 at Castro Valley, Union City

Beginning Monday, April 27, 2009, BART will charge a $1.00 daily parking fee at Castro Valley and Union City Stations. Drivers who park at these stations will be required to pay the daily fee weekdays from 4:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The parking fee program, combined with existing programs, will offer customers a variety of parking options while helping BART maintain high quality service and meet its difficult financial challenges.

DAILY PARKING FEE PAYMENT
Using EZ Rider Card
The easiest way to pay for daily parking is to purchase an EZ Rider card. Simply touch the card to the sensor disc on the EZ Rider parking validation machine located in the paid area of the BART station and you will have paid the $1 parking fee. Once you have signed up for an EZ Rider card, you will be sent a plastic hang-tag with a unique serial number. The hang tag must be visibly attached to your rear view mirror. Each time you use your EZ Rider card to pay for parking, money is automatically deducted from your account. Once the balance falls below a certain level, it is replenished from your credit card. To obtain an E-Z Rider card, go to https://ezrider.bart.gov. If you already have an EZ Rider card for transit, you must sign up for the parking EZ Rider parking program by accessing your account and adding the parking program option.

Using a BART Ticket or Cash
Without an EZ Rider card, you will need to take note of your parking stall number and then follow these procedures:
1. Proceed through the fare gates and go to addfare/parking validation machine.
2. Punch in your space number.
3. Insert your blue BART ticket into the addfare/parking validation machine.
4. Take your receipt from the bottom tray of the parking validation machine.
BART customers may also pay the daily parking fee in cash at the addfare/parking validation machine.
