Second public forum is held on civilian police oversight

The BART Police Department Review Committee holds its second public forum on civilian police oversight today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The forum will be held at the Joseph P. Bort Metro Center Auditorium, 101- 8th Street in Oakland (across from Lake Merritt BART Station).

At the first public forum on May 2, nearly 150 residents heard from a panel comprised of five civilian police oversight experts and an attorney from ACLU of Northern California.  Since then, an adhoc subcommittee including BART representatives and members of the public has met several times to outline a draft oversight model for further discussion tonight.
