City of El Cerrito paving project to affect parking at stations

On Monday, September 28th, the City of El Cerrito (City) began its citywide street repaving project that will affect street parking nearby the El Cerrito del Norte and El Cerrito Plaza stations. City staff has advised BART that the repaving project is a two-step process that will prohibit parking on the streets the City will be repaving. The City will post “No Parking” signs two to three days before the work begins. The City will issue tickets and may tow away cars if vehicles are not moved in time (working hours are 7:30am to 5pm). Look for “No Parking” signs posted on the street at least 72 hours in advance of work.
The signs will include specific dates and times the work is to be done.

Repaving Steps
Step one: “Chip Seal.” The City will prohibit parking on the affected streets for two days during first “Chip Seal” phase. Please note that after the first day it will look like they have completed the paving, but they will need a second day, car-free day on that street to allow the contractor to sweep the roadways of the rocks that are left over from the first day of work.
Step two: “Slurry Seal.” Approximately two weeks later the City will start the second phase, which will also prohibit parking on that site for two days.
