BART urges riders attending U2 concert to buy round-trip tickets

BART officials are encouraging U2 fans to buy round-trip tickets and to get to the Coliseum/Oakland Airport Station before midnight for their trip home following the band’s concert at the Overstock.com Coliseum in Oakland on Tuesday, June 7.

The concert is scheduled to end at about 11:30 Tuesday night, which should give fans plenty of time to make the short walk from Oracle Arena to the BART station before midnight. Getting to the station before midnight will help ease crowding because BART will have special event trains ready to get passengers on their way minutes after the final encore.  BART service is not scheduled to be extended beyond the normal hours.

Customers are also reminded to buy a round trip ticket to avoid the possibility of waiting in line at a ticket vending machine or to make sure their balance in their Clipper card account will get them home.

BART customers are encouraged to use the QuickPlanner to check out fares and schedules well before the concert Tuesday. BART officials also remind riders that there is no eating or drinking on trains or in the paid areas of stations.
