BART proposes adjusting Senior, Disabled and Youth fares downward

BART is proposing to adjust Senior, Disabled and Youth fares downward. BART is moving its customers from red and green tickets to discounted Clipper cards. The Clipper card gives you your discount when you tag at the fare gate (with tickets you get the discount when you buy your ticket).

We are proposing to adjust the fare gates to give you at least the 62.5% you get now. Because of rounding, the discount could be higher. For example:

If the full one way fare for a trip is $1.75, the discounted fare is 65.6 cents.
The fare you will be charged is 65 cents.
Your actual discount is 62.9%.

In no case will your discount be less than 62.5% and may be as high as 64.9%.

What do you think about this proposed change?  Tell us by filling out a comment card with a station agent, calling us at 510-464-7134 or emailing your feedback using this form. From the dropdown menu saying "My comments are about...," choose "Customer Comments."
