East Contra Costa County Extension Project (eBART) Implementation

 

The eBART project has now entered an implementation phase in cooperation with the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC), Contra Costa Transportation Authority (CCTA), and Caltrans. Both the funding and physical work is involved with this interagency cooperation.

The efforts by CCTA and Caltrans to increase the capacity of State Route 4 (SR 4) will now include construction of a median that will accommodate the transit guideway. The Caltrans construction contracts will include the main guideway construction. BART anticipates it will employ five contracts to implement the project as follows:

2010:
First Quarter: Advertise Transfer Station contract

Second Quarter:

  • Groundbreaking for Transfer Station
  • Advertise vehicles contract

2011:
First Half:  Award vehicles contract

2015:
Highway 4 and eBART open for service
