BART's fleet ready to roll for fleet week, other weekend activities

Longer Trains Will help Ease Weekend Traffic

Longer BART trains will be speeding through the TransBay Tube while the Navy's Blue Angels streak through the sky above the San Francisco Bay this weekend as Fleet Week activities add to an already busy roster of events in the Bay Area.

BART's Pittsburg/Bay Point to Daly City line will run longer trains all day Saturday and Sunday to carry the expected increased number of passengers heading to Fleet Week or to the World Golf Championship tournament at Harding Park in San Francisco. Golf fans who ride BART can catch a free shuttle to Harding Park from Daly City Station every 15 minutes from 7:15 a.m. to 5 p.m.

BART's Dublin/Pleasanton to Millbrae line will also run longer trains until 6 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday to accommodate East Bay residents headed to San Francisco's waterfront for the Fleet Week air show and ship visits.

Alternative rock fans will also have a transportation alternative thanks to longer trains before and after the "System of a Down" concert at the Oakland arena Saturday night.

And as Caltrans continues weekend work on the Bay Bridge, BART will provide a quick, convenient way to cross the Bay.
