Temporary pathway on plaza level at 16th Street/Mission Station

The contractor renovating the 16th Street Station Northeast Plaza is scheduled to plant two large Canary Palm Trees beginning Wednesday, May 3, 2006. The contractor anticipates this tree planting to take three full days, completing the work by Friday, May 5.

This work will require the contractor to close one lane of traffic and close the sidewalk to pedestrians along 16th street at the beginning of each workday. The contractor will use a large crane to lift each tree to its respective tree well near the Station entrance.

BART customers wishing to enter 16th Street Mission Station from the Northeast Plaza will be detoured safely through the plaza via a temporary pedestrian path running from the elevator along Mission street to the 16th street side of the plaza (near Burger King) beginning around 6:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 3.

At the end of each workday, the contractor will remove the temporary pedestrian path, open the sidewalk and the traffic lane on 16th street and reconfigure the fence to its original location.

BART thanks you in advance for your patience during this renovation project.
