Union City parking spaces temporarily closed

Starting Tuesday, April 10, housing developer Avalon Bay will block off 20 parking spots on the south corner of the Union City Station parking lot near the vacant physical therapy building.

Avalon Bay will post tow-away signs in the area that it blocks off. Please do not park in these spaces or a tow truck may take your vehicle.

Avalon Bay is about to build a 438-unit housing complex on the site of the physical therapy building and needs these 20 parking spots during building demolition. BART expects Avalon Bay to finish work in two weeks and then free up the parking spaces for BART customers to use.

In addition to the above work, Avalon Bay will remove the trees and fence along the south property line. A temporary construction fence will be placed five feet into the Avalon Bay property to clear way for BART's construction of the new curb and gutter along BART's southern property line.

This phase of the construction will begin April 18.
