Downtown Berkeley BART elevators out temporarily starting Sept. 8

Starting Monday, Sept. 8, BART will close both of the Downtown Berkeley Station elevators to the public to complete electrical improvements. The work will take between three and five days.

If you require an elevator to use BART, you will not be able to use the Downtown Berkeley Station during this work. You must plan ahead and make alternative travel plans. BART will operate a lift-equipped shuttle between the Ashby and Downtown Berkeley Stations during much of the time the elevators are out of service.

You may also access downtown Berkeley via AC Transit bus. Take the F or the 15 from Ashby Station, or the 51 from near the North Berkeley Station. You may also arrange a Paratransit trip when these options are not available.

BART will re-open the elevators as soon as the work is finished. Check the BART elevator hotline for the status of the elevators at (888) 235-3828.

If you need assistance planning alternative transportation during this outage, call BART Accessible Services at (510) 464-6184.
