Special service for busy Memorial Day weekend; Sunday schedule Memorial Day, May 28

BART will be ramping up service in a number of ways to accommodate many events going on during the busy Memorial Day weekend, Friday, May 25 - Monday, May 28. On the actual Memorial Day holiday day of Monday, May 28, BART will run on a Sunday schedule (meaning service starts around 8 am, and because it is a parking holiday on Monday, May 28, parking permit and fee requirements are not enforced in station parking facilities that day).

Weekend events include the Oakland A’s playing the New York Yankees at the Coliseum on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and the San Francisco Giants playing Arizona on Monday. Carnaval in the San Francisco Mission District will have a street fair on Saturday and Sunday and a large parade on Sunday morning.

And perhaps the biggest event of the weekend will be the Golden Gate Bridge 75th birthday celebration. There will be events along the San Francisco waterfront culminating with a fireworks show on Sunday night.

In addition to long trains to provide more service, we will have event trains for the Friday and Monday baseball games.  On Sunday all trains will be long to handle early crowds and during the day we will have extra trains available for the increased ridership expected.  After the Sunday fireworks, we expect crowds at Embarcadero and will have extra trains available.

Riders are encouraged to buy a roundtrip ticket in advance, or avoid ticket machines altogether by getting a Clipper card. More info at www.clippercard.com.

Note: Special Construction Advisory for Pittsburg/Bay Point line passengers:

Passengers on the Pittsburg/Bay Point line may experience 15-20 minute delays on Saturday, May 26, from  8am until 3pm due to track maintenance.  The work is being performed between Lafayette and Pleasant Hill station. We will minimize delays but suggest that you allow extra time for your journey.
