BART Independent Police Auditor to hold community forum on Jan. 29

The San Francisco Bay Area Rapid Transit District has created the Office of the Independent Police Auditor (OIPA) and the Citizen Review Board (CRB) to provide effective, independent oversight of the BART Police Department.  One of the cornerstones of effective oversight is community input and engagement.

To that end, OIPA and CRB are hosting a series of community forums around the Bay Area.  The next one will take place on Tuesday, January 29,  2013 from 6:00 pm-7:30 pm at the San Francisco Main Library.  Light refreshments will be served.

The purpose of these forums is to inform the public about the system of civilian oversight of the BART Police Department and to let people know how the oversight process can be of service to them.  Everyone is welcome to attend.  We hope you will join us, as we need your input to be as effective as we can be.  For more information,  visit www.bart.gov/policeauditor, or read an earlier profile of Independent Police Auditor Mark P. Smith.
