Governor will seek cooling-off, guaranteeing train service

The Governor announced today he will seek a court ordered cooling off period on Sunday if no contract agreement is in place at that time. This move will guarantee train service while labor negotiations continue.

"While we are pleased that the Bay Area will not be inconvenienced for the next two months the District is committed to remaining at the negotiating table working to reach agreement with the unions," said Rick Rice, BART spokesman.

The Board is committed to reaching a deal by Sunday evening as long as the unions are ready to move towards a reasonable settlement.
