BART seeks applicants for Earthquake Safety Citizens' Oversight Committee

Want to see where your tax dollars go? Want to get involved with your community and learn about what steps the Bay Area Rapid Transit District (BART) is taking to ensure that the system is seismically sound in the event of an earthquake? The Earthquake Safety Programs Citizens’ Oversight Committee (COC) is currently seeking applicants for the 2012-2014 term.  The role of the Committee is to verify that bond revenues authorized under Measure AA are spent as promised on earthquake safety retrofits.

The COC is a five-member committee consisting of one member with expertise in each of the following areas:

1. Seismic retrofitting
2. Auditing
3. Engineering
4. Public finance or project management
5. Community at large

The BART Board will select a committee member and alternate for each seat to serve one 2-year term.

For more information about the Earthquake Safety Program Citizens’ Oversight Committee or application process, please contact Bianca Mallory, Community Relations Liaison, at (510) 874-7478 or [email protected], or visit www.bart.gov/earthquakesafety to obtain an application. Applications must be received by close of business on Friday, October 26, 2012.
