Filing period opens July 16 for BART Board of Directors
The filing period opens on Monday, July 16, 2018, for persons interested in being candidates in the November 6, 2018, general election for the BART policymaking Board of Directors.
Four of the nine seats on the Board are up for election – all representing specific geographic districts in the BART District which includes Alameda, Contra Costa and San Francisco counties.
The seats which are up for election include:
BART District 2, which includes Antioch, Brentwood, Concord, Oakley, Pittsburg and part of unincorporated Contra Costa County.
BART District 4, which inclues Alameda, Oakland and San Leandro.
BART District 6, which includes Fremont, Hayward, Newark, Union City and part of unincorporated Alameda County.
BART District 8, which includes portions of San Francisco.
The filing period for the election extends from Monday, July 16th through 5:00 p.m. Friday, August 10, 2018. If an incumbent does not file for re-election by August 10th, the filing deadline for that seat will be extended by five days as prescribed by the Election Code.

Candidates must be registered voters and reside in the area they seek to represent.
For Alameda County residents, nomination packets may be obtained and filed at the Registrar of Voters, 1225 Fallon Street, G-1 in Downtown Oakland, (510) 272-6933.
For Contra Costa County residents, nomination packets may be picked up and filed at the Contra Costa County Elections Department, 555 Escobar Street in Martinez, (925) 335-7800.
For San Francisco County residents, nomination packets may be picked up and filed at the City and County of San Francisco Elections Office at #1 Dr. Carlton B. Goodlet Place, Room 48 in San Francisco, CA, (415) 554-4375.
