BART service in San Mateo County changes on September 12th

Effective Monday, September 12th, BART will adjust service along the five-station San Mateo County extension, which includes the San Francisco International Airport Station.

Trains on the Dublin/Pleasanton line will begin serving the extension on September 12th. Trains on this line will arrive every 15 minutes during the day Monday-Friday and every 20 minutes in the evening, weekends and on holidays.

Direct service to the extension on the Pittsburg/Bay Point and Richmond lines is ending. The Richmond, Pittsburg/Bay Point and Fremont lines will terminate at Daly City. Passengers on these lines can transfer at Balboa Park Station for trains bound for any of the extension stations: Colma, South San Francisco, San Bruno, SFO and Millbrae. This transfer will generally take just three minutes.

These service changes were requested by SamTrans, which is responsible for the net operating cost of the BART extension into San Mateo County. SamTrans asked BART to make the adjustment in order to save money.

***UPDATE***
On September 22, BART lengthened some Dublin/Pleasanton Line trains to better accommodate passenger loads. Also, some peak period Richmond Line trains now terminate at the Colma Station instead of Daly City Station. These minor adjustments will be reflected in scheduling materials, including the web, during the next schedule revision cycle.
