Notification of soil investigations

BART's Earthquake Safety Program will be conducting soil investigations throughout Alameda, Contra Costa, and San Francisco Counties between June 2006 and September 2006. All work will take place Monday through Friday between 7:00 AM and 5:00 PM.

The purpose of the work is to gather soil data and locate underground utilities around BART structures. The work activities consist of a crew using a truck-mounted boring device to drill into the ground, and the area will be restored upon completion of the work. Information obtained will assist with future strengthening of BART structures to withstand earthquakes. You will receive advance notice of future construction, which is estimated to begin in approximately 2008 or 2009.

It may be necessary to temporarily divert traffic and/or limit parking spaces in some areas to complete these activities; however, we will attempt to keep disruption to a minimum and will post traffic or parking notices in advance. Please be aware of the signage in the area and drive safely.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this work. If you have any questions about these activities, please call Micaela Mazzini at 510.464.6447.
