Elevator upgrade project at Lake Merritt Station

From August 7 through August 18, 2006, BART will be upgrading the equipment in the elevators at Lake Merritt Station. This work will include replacing buttons in the elevators, installing new hands-free phones, and reconfiguring the way in which riders call for the elevators.

Each elevator will be out of service for three to five days while it is being worked on. Passengers who require elevators may use one of the following alternatives:

  • Get on or off BART at Oakland City Center/12th Street Station. Between 12th and Lake Merritt Station, use AC Transit Bus #88. The bus stop is at the corner of 11th and Broadway. Bus service is provided from 5:55 a.m. to 11:28 p.m. (travel time is 4 minutes)
  • Get on or off BART at West Oakland Station. Between West Oakland and Lake Merritt Station, use Bus #62. The bus stop is on 7th Street. Bus service is provided from 5:30 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. (travel time is 9 minutes)
  • Get on or off BART at Fruitvale Station. Between Fruitvale and Lake Merritt Station use Bus #62. The bus stop is south side of the Station. Bus service is provided from 5:30 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. (travel time is 28 minutes)

We apologize in advance for any inconvenience and thank you for your patience.
