AirBART fares increased March 1

The Port of Oakland has approved raising AirBART shuttle fares, effective Thursday, March 1. This is the first fare increase since 1985.

Regular fares will increase from $2.00 to $3.00. Senior/Children/Disabled fares will increase from $0.50 to $1.00.

The scheduled AirBART fare change will offset the cost of purchasing new buses and increasing service to accommodate higher ridership.

The AirBART shuttle service is operated by Port of Oakland contractor ShuttlePort. AirBART revenues and expenses are split between the Port and BART.

High ridership led to enhanced AirBART shuttle service in 2003 when the fleet expanded from 3 to 4 buses. Scheduled bus departures improved from every 15 minutes to every 10 minutes as a result of increased customer demand and the larger fleet of buses.
