New Downtown Berkeley Bike Station opens Tuesday, July 13

The new and improved Downtown Berkeley bike station opens Tuesday, July 13, with a ribbon cutting celebration at 11:00 am plus other events and prizes throughout the day.

The Downtown Berkeley bike station was previously located in a cramped little cage on the concourse level of Downtown Berkeley BART. Now it's moving above-ground to a storefront location at 2208 Shattuck Avenue, just steps from the BART entrance at Allston Way and Shattuck Avenue.

The spacious new bike station will be operated by Alameda Bicycle, and will securely accommodate more bikes than the previous location. It will also offer full-service bike repairs. For bike station rates, rules and registration forms visit Alameda Bicycle for details.

There will also be several special guests on hand for the ribbon cutting festivities, including City of Berkeley Mayor Tom Bates and BART Director Bob Franklin.
