Here is a summary of BART schedule and service plans for the holiday period beginning with Christmas Eve on Friday, December 24, 2010, and continuing until New Year's Day, Saturday, January 1, 2011.

BART to run longer midday trains on Christmas Eve
With the exception of modified peak-commute service on the Pittsburg/Bay Point Line (as explained below), trains will run on a normal weekday schedule on Christmas Eve, Friday, December 24. In addition, BART will run longer trains during the midday period on Christmas Eve to accommodate commuters expected to be leaving their workplaces early for the holiday.

BART to run Sunday schedule on Christmas Day
BART trains will run on a Sunday/Holiday timetable on Christmas Day, Saturday, December 25.  Service begins at approximately 8:00 a.m. In addition, BART will run longer trains Saturday night to accommodate basketball fans attending the Warriors/Trail Blazers game at the Oracle Arena. Then, on Sunday, December 26, BART will run special event trains for football fans as they head to the Coliseum to see the Raiders try to keep their playoff hopes alive against the Colts.

BART to modify peak commute schedule on Pittsburg/Bay Point Line between Christmas, New Year's
In anticipation of light ridership during the week between Christmas and New Year's BART typically modifies its schedule by selectively reducing service where lower ridership is expected. BART will trim peak-commute weekday Pittsburg/Bay Point trains that usually run in the early morning hours and in the mid-afternoon.  Instead of running trains five minutes apart on the Pittsburg/Bay Point (Yellow) line, trains will run every 10 to 15 minutes. This modified commute-time schedule will be in place from Monday, December 27, through Friday, December 31.  Check BART's real time departures throughout the day for trains in service, or on your mobile device at BART's mobile website.

BART to extend hours, provide special service on evening of New Year's Eve
For the evening of New Year's Eve, BART will extend its hours until 3 a.m. and provide special service. Read more about the New Year's Eve service.

BART to run Sunday schedule on New Year's Day
BART trains will run on a Sunday/Holiday timetable on New Year's Day, Saturday, January 1, 2011.  Service begins at approximately 8:00 a.m.
