Electrical work at Downtown Berkeley Station starting Feb. 7

On Thursday, February 7, 2013, we will begin sectioning off areas of the Downtown Berkeley station to do some needed electrical work.  Because there is some asbestos dust contamination in the work areas, they will be contained and decontaminated before the work begins. There will be on-site monitoring of the air quality in the work areas and each section will be under containment protocols while the work is going on and there will be a BART safety monitor present.

The safety of our customers and employees is our top priority.

The work will take place in six phases as described on the map shown on the Passenger Bulletin you can download here (.pdf). Each phase will take between 10 to 16 days to complete.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you. Some of the work areas may block your normal path of travel but there will always be an alternate path available. Please plan to allow some additional time to reach your train and follow the signs and directions of the work crews.

You can get BART Service Advisories (BSA) on your phone. To sign up for BSAs, please visit us on the web at www.bart.gov/alerts. You may also text “BART go” to 468311 or call 511 to get up-to-date service information.
