Major repair work underway to 24th St. Station escalator Updated

UPDATE: Escalator out of service until at least September 22.

BART repair crews are working to get the broken escalator at 24th St./Mission Station back in service but it's not an easy fix; the escalator will be out of service until at least September 22nd. The escalator needs new steps, the chain that moves the steps and a rebuilt gear box. In the meantime, the elevator remains in service.

BART has a total of 179 escalators throughout our stations. Our goal is to have at least 96% of the platform escalators and 95% of the street escalators available for customers. You can track the availability in our Quarterly Performance Reports.
