Earthquake Safety work at El Cerrito del Norte Station in April

As part of our systemwide Earthquake Safety Program, we are in the process of strengthening structures and facilities to better withstand future earthquakes.

Bird Deterrent Work on Pillars
Updates to structures in and around the El Cerrito Del Norte Station will begin with installation of sloped ledges to make it difficult for birds to roost on top of columns around the station. Installation will occur at one location at a time, we will make every effort to block as few parking spaces as possible. Work is planned for between April and June 2015.

Elevator Tower Reinforcement in Parking Structures
Starting in April, the contractor will be retrofitting the elevator towers in El Cerrito Del Norte Station’s parking structure. Construction will take place at one elevator tower at a time and may require use of nearby parking spaces to make room for the work. Elevator tower work is expected to take place through fall 2015.

During work, the contractor will use various light construction equipment. You may also expect temporary construction-related noise, dust, and minor traffic impacts. We will monitor noise and dust and work to minimize any inconveniences. Please proceed around construction areas with caution and watch for signs with safety information and other notices. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this work.  As always, safety is BART’s top priority.
