BART hosts job fair to recruit electronic technicians

BART is currently hiring for Transit Vehicle Electronic Technicians (TVET), a rewarding career that helps keep our system safe and reliable.  BART is hosting a career fair on Monday, January 4, 2016, to help recruit for this position that blends technical knowledge and troubleshooting ability with practical hands-on journey-level electronic skills.  

TVET’s work at one of our several shops based all around the Bay Area including Richmond, Concord, Daly City, and Hayward. Successful applicants tend to come from backgrounds in aviation and military.

Minimum requirements include an Associate in Science degree in electronics or an Electronics Credential from an accredited electronics certificate program, or its equivalent such as the completion of a military electronics training program. BART allows an applicant to substitute the education with 4 years of verifiable electronic maintenance experience (including troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of electronic and/or electro-mechanical equipment).

This position works with mechanics in our shops to perform preventive maintenance on BART’s train cars.

TVET’s also troubleshoot problems and make repairs and modifications to a variety of electronic and electro-mechanical equipment and components on train cars, such as the propulsion and breaking systems, auxiliary power supply and automatic train control systems.
